During the student exchange program we had the pleasure of joining our visitors on a workshop on the consequences of overconsumption. After attending a presentation on the matter, we discussed and shared our perspectives on the dire consequences of the phenomenon on the grounds of humanitarianism. As such the discussion revolved around how the global economic model - which is based on overconsumption - is a major cause of suffering in the global south which is traditionally exploited. Everybody figured out and conluded that the system which is praised for the comfort of humaninty is also the one to strip some people of the essentials. I'm glad that I had the opportunity to discuss such a serious atter with mature individuals of my age.
